    Description

    Nicaragua Hyperinflation Set 3 Pcs: 20000, 100000, 500000 Cordobas 1987 | UNC
These three banknotes were during the period of hyperinflation in Nicaragua, in 1987. The Banco Central de Nicaragua (Central Bank of Nicaragua) took stock of existing notes and overprinted in black ink the new denominations in the center of the banknotes, then the "BCN" bank initials in the corners, to obscure the old denominations.
This set consists of three banknotes, one each of:
    Nicaragua 20,000 Córdobas, 1987, B441a, P147 (overprint on B433.5 20 córdobas)
    Nicaragua 100,000 Córdobas, 1987, B443a, P149 (overprint on B438 500 córdobas)
    Nicaragua 500,000 Córdobas, 1987, B444a, P150 (overprint on B439 1,000 córdobas)
    Condition
    Crisp UNC uncirculated condition.
Many modern notes have a security thread that may show some bubbling, or a dimple, at the top of the note at the strip. In the printing process, when the notes are run through high speed counters, a dimple is created where the strip is on the top of the note (sometimes called a counting tick). This does not disqualify the note as UNC.
