    Description

    This is a
    traditional
Huipil from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, the type of huipil made famous by Frida Kahlo.
    This particular huipil is all
    machine embroidered
as it the tradition with the geometric pattern huipiles from Tehuana.
This unlined huipil made of a Royal Blue color cotton blend fabric with some lycra
in it so there is a bit of stretch to the fabric. The embroidery is done in
    Red and Yellow Colors.
    I purchased this huipil along
    with
several others in a local market
while on my most recent trip to Oaxaca.
Take a look at my Ebay store for a larger selection of Tehuana Huipiles.
This lightweight weight cotton blend top measures; 23 1/2 inches across (total 47 inches around) and 23 inches Long.
This huipil will fit a Medium to Large Size Woman.  But can easily be made smaller by taking it in at the sides.
It is a wonderful example of contemporary fashion trends such as,
Frida Kahlo, Fiesta, Santa Fe, Hippie, Boho, Peasant, Gypsy, South Western, Cowgirl Style.
By purchasing clothing made in Mexico you are helping the
Mayan women support their families and save their cultural heritage and traditions.
