Description
Cotton poncho featuring different animals, flowers and white tassels. Made by Margarita, a young and talented artist working out of Puebla, Mexico. Ojo de Venado supports Margarita andallows her beautiful articles to be sold and distributed around the world.
This quechquemitl is especially unique because of the lengthy braiding. It takes up to two months to braid the yarn in such a fashion and is very rare and sought after as only the best artists can make this style.
The huipil (quechquemitl) is handwoven and artisanally made in old fashioned looms in
Hueyapan, Puebla. The cross stitch (punta de cruz) design pattern is also handmade. The
finished textile and design pattern was created with artistic sensibility, patience and time to
acquire just the right weave, color and beauty.
