This is a very rare find, indeed! A one of a kind poncho made from pure and luxurious alpaca. This is a very special piece completely made by hand by an artisanal maker in northern Argentina. This is one of the rarest patterns to find. This pattern is the mystical eagle design. The late singer Mercedes Sosa frequently wore the eagle poncho design in various colors. This poncho was made using the traditional Ikat technique which involves weeks of hand tying the pattern into the various strands of alpaca yarns. After this, the yarns are dyed, everything takes the color expect for what has been sealed by tying. Then the item has the design and is woven into the cloth completely by hand. The amount of work that goes into making a piece like this takes around two months and is very hard work, indeed.
