The connection is high speed over Wi-Fi.  It selects the fastest/best channels and can use the high speed 5 Ghz band.
The app provides a lot of the professional features of a traditional video monitor.  In addition to a live view, it has overlays for
false color, peaking, zebra, histogram, and 3D LUT support.
No batteries needed.  It works from your own USB-C power supply.  Great for studio/home use without worrying about charging batteries.
If you want to use it as a portable device, just use any USB-C portable battery bank!
(Right after buying this, I got a mirrorless camera that has it's own wireless remote viewing app, so I didn't need this for my particular use.)
